The Evoluent 3 is a vertical mouse and is therefore held in a handshake position. This natural position prevents the wrist from being bent unnaturally.

Using the wrong mouse can cause physical problems in the shoulders, forearms and hands. Using a vertical mouse will prevent many of these problems.

The “handshake posture” of the hand when using a vertical mouse results in the wrist being bent less to the side and the forearm being turned less inward (Schmid et al., 2015). This results in less muscle activity in the forearm than when using a standard mouse (Quemelo & Vieira, 2013).

A study found that forearm, wrist and hand discomfort improved more quickly when using a vertical joystick mouse (Aarås et al., 2001).
