With the Auerswald COMfortel PoE-100, an IEEE 802.3af compatible network device, e.g. a wireless access point, IP telephone or network camera, can be supplied with power directly via the network cable. This means that these devices, which are supplied via the network cable, can also be connected to an unpowered LAN switch port. The power supply via the network connection reduces the number of cables and increases flexibility when choosing the installation location. A separate plug-in power supply is no longer required; only the network cable is required for connection and the device no longer has to be installed in the immediate vicinity of a power socket.
