Tube microphone
In times of digital recording and lossless processing, many users long for the “analog” sound character of a tube microphone.
Due to its uniquely present, mid-range sound character, the M 147 is ideal for male and female vocals as well as for speech applications such as voice-over and dubbing. Its sound properties also make it ideal for individual recording of solo instruments. Unlike many other tube microphones, the M 147 can also be used for very quiet sound sources thanks to an exceptionally low self-noise of just 12 dB-A. Although its maximum sound pressure level of 114 dB seems quite low, the M 147 can also be used for loud sources because the distortion factor only increases very slowly and reaches 5% at 134 dB SPL. This is intentional: the M 147 makes loudness audible in the form of saturation effects - just like in the days of analogue tape machines.
